BSNL to amplify its services in the country is looking forward to launch next generation Smart Landline phones, which will run on Android OS. These Android based Landline phones can able to run applications like Facebook, WhatsApp, banking apps and several other apps.

Currently, the prototype is being tested in BSNL’s Hyderabad based exchange. As per reports, BSNL Android Landline phones will be launched across 40 cities including New Delhi, Chandigarh and Bhopal. BSNL is also upgrading its telephone exchanges to IP(Internet Protocol) based exchanges to provide these new services.
“BSNL is the only telecom company in India to introduce Smart landline service”, said Mahesh Shukla, Senior GM, BSNL. Tariff details of the service will be announced later.
The BSNL android landline phones will also have the feature to divert calls to mobile numbers. Currently BSNL Smart Landline phone specifications are not available yet.
