Very soon we’ll get an initial preview into Android 16 and Android 16 release date is not so far. A dev preview in Q1 has usually rolled out by Google, and as the early build doesn’t has to give much new features, they act as the foundation for further testing..

Eligible devices to support Android 16:
Android 16 will be available to more Android devices than any other Android version.
Most of the phones that are launched in the last two years are expected to receive an update of Android 16. As budget-phones are not ignored for most of the latest Android version, so it’s a big deal of receiving long-term updates.
Talking about the Google’s own Pixel devices, all Pixel devices starting with the Pixel 7 series will be eligible to get Android 16. So, Pixel 6, 6 Pro and older Pixels will be out of the list, but these Pixel devices will get feature updates and security patches.
Android 16’s Internal Codename:
As the internal codename of Android 15 was ‘Vanilla Ice-cream’, you would think that Google will go with the dessert name with the letter “W”, but it’s not like that.
Google has changed the pattern of assigning codename for Android release, and Android 16’ internal codename is “Baklava”, though it’s also a kind of dessert which means Google till maintaining dessert-based monikers, it effectively started over.
