What are the features included in the new upgrade of CCU?

  • The new upgrade of CCU includes 32GB of internal storage, 3GB of RAM, and connectivity features like eSIM, GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, and the best and highlighting part about this upgrade is that the TFT Dashboard would be allowed by CCU to run Android Automotive in bikes.
  • Offline map navigation has also been integrated by KTM into the CCU which will provide real-time navigation without syncing or tethering to a mobile phone. It will help to provide access of active route guidance and route planning, along with A-B routes, pre-programmed Points of Interest, and more.
  • Also, it has been mentioned by KTM that the CCU will be reconnected to users smartphone on every ignition cycle. Initial updates will be done through the KTM dealer, but in the future, the motorcycle will be able to receive OTA updates directly.

But, it seems that Google apps might not be preloaded on the device, as Google apps to Android Automotive OS will give it the branding “Cars with Google built-in,” which has not mentioned by KTM for Android Automotive to KTM bikes.

Well, it’s very appreciated that motorcycle companies has started thinking about Android Automotive for bikes and KTM company has taken the first step toward it. It will really be nice and exciting seeing the availability of Android Automotive to KTM bikes. But as third-party head units are at risk of theft, so an integrated dashboard with this functionality will be more better.
