Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 are now all set to have Android 15’s Bluetooth audio sharing feature. Pixel Buds Pro 2 are the upgraded version of original Pixel Buds Pro with more comfort and better battery life.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 has brought so many new features that are not seen in the original one like- Gemini Live and Find My Device integration. And now it is all set to support one more new feature i.e., support for ‘LE Audio’, and it is confirmed that Pixel Buds Pro 2 will also support “Auracast”.
What is Auracast?
Auracast is a feature built on top of the Bluetooth LE Audio, which is used to fix the inability to stream audio to multiple Bluetooth devices.
There is a limitation of the Bluetooth Classic Audio specification which allows Bluetooth device to transmit audio to a single other device. To minimize this problem, companies like Samsung and Apple bring custom Bluetooth stacks that allow their phones to share audio to multiple devices, but it only works if users have a phone or headset from same manufacturers.
To deal with all these problems, Auracast come in role in which if audio stream by any of the device, that device act like a mini radio tower that start broadcasting around it, and any nearby devices that supports Auracast will able to listen in on that audio stream. This is how Auracast works.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 ready to join Auracast fun:
Currently, there are only two phones available to fully support Auracast that are- Samsung devices running One UI 6.1 and some newly launched Xiaomi phones., Google’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series (except Pixel 8a). This Bluetooth audio-sharing interface on Auracast-capable Pixel phones will be enabled by Google in an Android 15, for now it’s hidden in Android 15 software.
One of the Android Authority user has confirmed that Pixel Buds Pro 2 support Auracast. As stated by user- Android 15’s hidden Bluetooth audio-sharing interface has been activated on Google Pixel smartphone, and it started an Auracast broadcast, and Pixel Buds Pro 2 which was connected to Galaxy ZFold 6, got connected to that broadcast. Then the user was able to hear all audio playing from Pixel smartphone , even though the buds were paired to Galaxy phone.
Hence, by this incident, it is clear that Pixel Buds Pro 2 support Auracast.
Now, once Android 15 will get public release then this feature will get more easy accessible.
