Google search result might get “blue checkmarks” soon as Google started testing a verification feature for search results. Google is experimenting this feature for making search results more authentic and trustworthy.
Currently, Google search helps users to find the web they are looking for, but sometimes it led to junk websites as well. To solve this concern and to provide more legit websites to users, the search giant started experimenting on search engine with this new verification feature for search results.
According to the report of The Verge, blue verification checkmark next to business links has been spotted by some of the users in their search results. Also, the new blue checkmark has been seen on official sites for Microsoft, Meta, Epic Games, Apple, Amazon, and HP so far. But, as said by outlet that after switching accounts the checkmarks disappeared which means that the new verification feature has not been rollout widely.
When it asked from the Google about this new test, a spokesperson for Google told The Verge that “We regularly experiment with features that help shoppers identify trustworthy businesses online, and we are currently running a small experiment showing checkmarks next to certain businesses on Google”.
The experiment may be an extension of the Brand Indictors for Message Identification (BIMI) feature which we have seen recently in Gmail.
