OnePlus get banned in Germany by the German authorities due to a legal dispute over patent issues related to 5G and mobile technologies in the country.
This year, in January 2024, OnePlus started returning its product to Germany after a patent dispute with Nokia. And again just after 9 months the Chinese brand OnePlus have to stop its sale in Germany as the country authorities has banned this company.
OnePlus get banned over the dispute:
The dispute occurred between OnePlus and InterDigital company, the company of research and development on wireless devices. It has been claimed by the InterDigital company that the OnePlus has broken the terms of patents related to 5G. the dispute sounds pretty much similar to what the Nokia kerfuffle was all about.
According to the German publication report, because of this conflict between two brands, OnePlus had to stop the sale of its product in German and once again OnePlus store in Germany has no smartphones for sale, though other products is as usual, which means problem is only with 5G model.
It’s not clear that when OnePlus will again be able to sell its handsets in Germany.
An official statement has been issued by the OnePlus company which states that-
“OnePlus places high value on intellectual property rights and fair access to standard essential patents, which is essential for driving innovation in the industry. We will continue to negotiate with InterDigital and wish to solve this matter in an amicable way. Meanwhile, our commitment in Europe remains unchanged and we will continue to provide excellent products and services to our users”.
Which OnePlus devices are banned in Germany?
5G models of OnePlus are get banned as dispute is over the patent related to 5G so OnePlus has stopped the sale of this devices which includes-
- OnePlus Open
- OnePlus 12
- OnePlus 11
The only products left on the OnePlus’ German online store are- OnePlus Pad 2 and the OnePlus Watch 2, because both of these products don’t come with cellular support.
