Amazon Nova Reel 1.1 is an upgraded version of Nova Reel 1.0 with the latest capabilities. It offers twice the length of its AI-generated videos, which will now allow users to create two-minute clips. Apart from extending video duration, it has also offered new features like“ multi-shot” videos and “multi-shot manual” mode.
It is available through AWS platforms and services, including Bedrock, Amazon’s AI dev suite, and customers must request access.
Amazon Nova Reel
Amazon Nova Reel is an AI tool built to generate AI videos from text and image input. It is a part of Amazon Nova Creative Models.
Amazon has created Amazon Nova Creative Models to mark its step in AI generative tools and to compete with models from OpenAI, Google, and others. It include two models:
Amazon Nova Canvas for image generation– Professional-level images can be generated from text and image inputs. It is ideal for advertising, marketing, and entertainment purposes.
Amazon Nova Reel for video generation: It is a short video generation tool by which users can create customizable visual content from text and image inputs. Nova Reel 1.0 was the model.
Nova Reel 1.1 new features:
Extended duration: In the previous model, the duration of the AI video was 1 minute. But now, in the Amazon Nova Reel 1.1 version, Amazon has increased the length of the video to two minutes, which is double the previous one. Users can now generate a 2-min short AI video from input text and images.
Multi-shot feature: Users can now create multi-shot videos using the new feature with consistent style. The 4,000-character-long prompt can be provided to create a 2-minute video with six-second shots, as explained by AWS developer advocate Elizabeth Fuentes.
Multi-shot Manual Mode Feature: The multi-shot feature provides two modes: ‘Automated mode’ and ‘Manual mode’. In automated mode, videos can be generated by using a single prompt and specifying the total video duration. In multi-shot manual mode, a 1280 x 720-resolution image and 512-maximum-character prompt can generate videos containing up to 20 shots.

Amazon Nova Reel Prompt to create videos:
As suggested by the model, there are some requirements while writing a video generation prompt, like-
Prompts should not exceed more than 512 characters.
To create a video of duration more than 6 seconds from a single prompt, it is suggested to write a longer, more comprehensive prompt of up to 4000 characters.
Users are advised to not use words like “no,” “not,” “without,” and so on, as the model doesn’t understand these words in prompts. And it may result in the opposite of what you intend.
If someone wants to influence camera movement, they will get the best result by placing camera movement descriptions at the start or end of their prompt.
