Android Auto Google Maps incident reports are now finally coming, and we have got the closer look how actually the functionality work.
What is Google Maps incident report?
Incident reports were added by Google Maps for drivers to warn others on the road of crashes, speed traps, and other incidents along the road. But as every drivers started using their car display, this feature became less useful as Google Maps lacked the ability to make or show new reports, only showing the existing one.
Because of this reason, Google introduced incident reports to tackle the problem and for increasing the use of functionality.in July, incident reports were introduced to CarPlay, and by the end of July, it has been announced by Google that incident reports system would launch on Maps across all platforms, including on Android Auto.
How Android Auto Google Maps incident reports works?
It has been spotted by one of the Android Auto users on Reddit that incident reports in Google Maps are live in their vehicle.
It appeared as a yellow triangle with a “+” icon below existing icons that are Settings, audio guidance, the compass and the zoom button on the display of Android Auto.

If you tap on that icon it shows the option of “add a report” related to crash, slowdown, construction, lane closure, object on road, and speed trap. these all cannot be seen in the image shared by the user, but it appear in the Maps app on mobile devices.
The rollout of this new feature seems not happening properly, as the functionality is seen live by rare users, not by everyone. It’s not known that why this rollout is taking too long to get available for everyone.
But, as one of the users shared the functionality working live on Android Auto, we can expect some progress of this feature in coming days.
