Over 250,000 requests have been rejected by OpenAI ChatGPT which were created to generate Dall-E images of candidates in the month before the US presidential election, as claimed by OpenAI.
Images of President-elect Trump, Vice President Harris, Vice President-elect Vance, President Biden, and Governor Walz have been included in this figure.
Almost 2 million people who are looking for answers toward traditional news sources on the day of the election itself that includes the Associated Press and Reuters, have been directed by ChatGPT, as claimed by OpenAI.

Also, over one billion people have been sent to “CanIVote.org?” website by the firm to get a nonbiased advice and information on how to vote and related administrative issues during the period leading up to the election.
In one of the blog, it has been said by OpenAI that “These guardrails are especially important in the context of an election and are a key part of our broader efforts to prevent our tools from being used for deceptive or harmful purposes”.
The regulations generated regarding deepfake with the election looming had attracted serious attention fromeverywhere that includes the Big Tech and state legislators.
YouTube has also worked in the field to protect users and creators from deepfake videos and voices, as it has been confirmed by YouTube that it was working on at least two deepfake detection tool in September. These deepfake detection tools help in finding videos where AI-generated copies of creator’s voices or faces are being used without their consent.
In the month of September, three bills were signed by Governor of California- “Gavin Newsom”, which were aimed at limiting the spread of deepfakes on social media ahead of the election that includes criminalizing the intentional spreading of AI-based content meant to influence elections.
In one of announcement Newsom said that “it’s critical that we ensure AI is not deployed to undermine the public’s trust through disinformation – especially in today’s fraught political climate.”
It’s very important to take proper steps and measures to limit the incidents of deepfakes as this vulnerability is disastrous for the society.
